This message is sent on behalf of the Smyrna Fire Department and Rutherford County Sheriff's Department.  Per Atmos Energy, a major gas leak has occurred near the intersection of Old Nashville Highway and Chicken Pike.  Sheriff's deputies have evacuated some homes in the immediate area of the leak, however residents farther out from the location may leave the area if they desire. Old Nashville Highway is closed from Baker Rd to both Chicken Pike accesses. Smyrna Fire Department and Rutherford County Sheriff's Office are on the scene.
