Weekend Traffic Advisory: Expect Delays in Downtown Due to Festival of the Arts

The annual Palo Alto Festival of the Arts returns to downtown this coming weekend, August 24-25. Expect significant traffic delays and please budget extra time if you need to travel around the area.

Beginning in the very early morning hours of Saturday, August 24, University Avenue will be closed between High Street and Webster Street, and will remain closed until about 11 p.m. on Sunday, August 25. Streets running north and south between Hamilton Avenue and Lytton Avenue will also be closed to through traffic during the same time frame (though Cowper Street and Emerson Street will remain open during the overnight hours on Saturday night to allow north-south traffic to pass).

This year, tens of thousands of people are expected to visit the Festival of the Arts, which features 250 artists, street painting, activities for kids, and more. The festival is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Please bring the family and come downtown!
