Reminder: Road closures planned in Niles District and Downtown Fremont for events Saturday 8/17/19 and Sunday 8/18/19.

1. The Hot August Niles Car Show will take place in the historic Niles District on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Niles District Road Closures: The following roads will be closed on Saturday, August 17 starting at 6:00 a.m. and are expected to reopen by 5:00p.m. on the same day.

  • Niles Blvd - between “J” Street and “G” Street;
  • “H” Street - between Second Street and Niles Blvd;
  • “I” Street - between Second Street and Niles Blvd;
  • Iron Horse Lane - between “H” and “I” Streets.

2. The Festival of India (also known as the Festival of Globe) will take place at the Fremont Hall of Justice Parking Lot in Downtown Fremont.  The two day Mela will take place on Saturday, August 17 and Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Downtown Fremont Road Closure: The following road will be closed from Saturday, August 17 at 8:00 a.m. to Sunday August 18 at 10:00 p.m.
  • Walnut Ave. – between Paseo Padre Pkwy. and Liberty Street in both directions.
Please note that the parade portion of the festival has been canceled. The parade was originally scheduled on Sunday, August 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. As a result of the parade cancellation, all other roads in the area will remain open during the entire event.

Event Communication: During all Fremont events, we ask that community members remain aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity by calling our non-emergency number at 790-6800 and selecting option 3 or by dialing 9-1-1 in an emergency. The Police Department will utilize Nixle and Twitter during the event to send out notifications and/or alerts if necessary.
