ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS:  Folks was held pending arraignment in Amsterdam City Court
 
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: on August 13th, 2019 at approximately 3:50 pm, members of the Amsterdam Police Department were dispatched to 165 Church Street, Mobile Station, for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival witnesses stated to police that two groups of men had an argument while at the gas station which culminated when one man pulled out a hand gun and fired no less than 10 rounds at the other group.
 
 
          A vehicle was struck multiple times as well as one of the station’s pumps being struck once. There were no injuries to any person(s) reported at the scene. There have been no reports of injuries to anyone during the subsequent investigation. Responding detectives were able to secure video surveillance from the station from which two suspects were identified.
          Shortly after 11 p.m. on August 13th working on information developed in the case members of the Amsterdam Police Department, Montgomery County Sherriff’s Office, and the New York State Police surrounded the residence 47 Milton Avenue Apt.1 in the City of Amsterdam then executed a search warrant signed by the Honorable Lisa W. Lorman at that address where the alleged shooter in this incident 17 year-old Daquan T. Folks of Amsterdam was located and taken into custody. Folks was taken to Amsterdam Police Headquarters where he will be held on the listed charges for arraignment in Amsterdam City Court on August 14th.Montgomery County District Attorney Kelli McCoski also assisted in the investigation.
          Amsterdam Police are currently seeking information on the whereabouts of the second suspect 19 year-old Israel E. Sharp of Amsterdam for his involvement in this incident. The weapon used in this incident has not been recovered. Sharp is considered to be armed and dangerous any person who observes Sharp should contact Amsterdam Police immediately at 518-842-1100.
