Primary Collision Factor Traffic Safety Operation Planned for Beverly Hills

The Beverly Hills Police Department will take part in a primary collision factor enforcement operation aimed at educating drivers on traffic laws, rules and responsibilities.

From Monday August 19th through Saturday August 24th additional BHPD Officers will be looking for violations made by drivers that are most likely to cause traffic collisions. These violations include drivers speeding, running stop signs, making illegal turns or unsafe lane changes or any other dangerous violation.

Traffic laws are designed to protect the motoring public. It is important for the safety of drivers and bystanders that traffic laws are obeyed. Practicing safe driving is a habit that every driver should embrace. By doing so driver’s will play an important role in preventing traffic collisions.

In 2018, the Beverly Hills Police Department investigated 419 injury collisions involving automobiles, bicyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians. “Whether you are on foot, behind the wheel or on a bike, you play a part in roadway safety,” Beverly Hills Police Chief Sandra Spagnoli said. “Understanding the rules of the road when using any mode of transportation helps ensure we all get to our destinations safely.”

The Beverly Hills Police Department supports the new OTS public awareness campaign, “Go Safely, California.” To find out more about ways to go safely, visit gosafelyca.org.

Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
