Citizen's Police Academy deadline extended
We received many inquiries about Citizen's Police Academy (CPA) at National Night Out. Although the deadline has passed, if you recently inquired about the CPA and are able to submit an application before the end of this week, then we will make an exception.

This course is an eleven-week commitment that meets every Wednesday from 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm.
Topics that the course may cover include:
- ethics, hiring and field training
- traffic enforcement
- patrol
- criminal evidence response team (CERT)
- vehicle abatement
- use of force
- firearms familiarization
- gangs
- narcotics
- social media & investigations
- k-9 program
-SWAT
- Red Light Enforcement
Applicants should:
- have no prior felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
- be willing to have a background check completed
- have the ability to attend all scheduled sessions
- be at least 21 years old
- live or work in the City of Newark
- not be a prior CPA graduate.
