Excessive Heat Warning until 08:00PM Tuesday

...Dangerous heat wave expected across the Mid-South through Tuesday evening... The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect until 8 PM CDT Tuesday. The Heat Advisory is no longer in effect. The Excessive Heat Watch is no longer in effect.

* HEAT INDEX READINGS...110 degrees or greater this afternoon and evening and Tuesday afternoon and evening. Little relief will occur during the overnight hours as low temperatures will remain in the mid to upper 70s.

* TIMING...Through Tuesday evening.

* IMPACTS...The dangerous heat could cause heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Try to stay inside an air-conditioned building. Drink plenty of fluids. Keep an eye on the elderly, children, and individuals who do not have air-conditioning or work outdoors. Remember to check the backseat for children and pets when exiting vehicles.

Instructions:

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS SITUATION in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
