Alert resident helps capture trio in thefts from vehicles

Remember to lock your car doors, and keep anything that looks valuable out of sight. That’s the best advice we can give after the early morning arrest of 2 subjects accused of stealing from unlocked vehicles, and breaking the window of a locked vehicle on Saturday.

It started just before 4am on August 10, 2019, when a resident heard a car alarm and saw a person walk away from the area and get into a car.  He called 911 and officers quickly found the car and detained the driver, but the person who had been seen near the victom’s car wasn't around. The driver of the car was 42-year-old David Henessy, from Sacramento.  As officers searched the area, another resident, about a half mile away, reported that he saw a man rummaging through an unlocked vehicle, and a woman was with him.

Officers found the pair, 39-year-old Marissa Marie Lopez, of Sacramento, and 26-year-old Casey James Schmidt, of Sacramento. Officers determined that they had been in Hennessy's car and Schmidt was identified as having been involved in the original auto burglary.

All three suspects were arrested and booked into the Sacramento County jail. Schmidt was booked for burglary, conspiracy, possession of burglary tools, prowling and violation of probation. Hennessy was booked for conspiracy, prowling and violation of probation. Lopez was booked for conspiracy and prowling.  Booking photos area attached.  Because this case was referred for prosecution, no additional information is available at the time.

We couldn’t have caught these three without the help of our residents.  Help us make Folsom an unattractive target by keeping doors locked, anything of value out of sight, and calling immediately if you see crime occurring.  Together, we can make the risk of stealing in Folsom not worth it to thieves!
