Beginning Monday, August 12^th, the City of Oneonta and its contractor, Suit-Kote Corporation, will be performing pavement maintenance on various streets throughout the City, weather permitting.
 
Specifically, crack sealing will occur Monday through Wednesday, and chip sealing will occur Tuesday through Thursday.
 
There will be brief temporary traffic interruptions while work is occurring on each street, and flaggers will direct drivers accordingly.
 
For streets with on-street parking, temporary no parking signs will be installed during the afternoon of the day before work is expected to begin. All vehicles must be removed from these streets in order for the work to be completed in an efficient manner.
 
Please note that part of the chip sealing process will leave behind some loose stone. This stone will be collected by the City’s street sweeper over the course of the next week or so, and recycled for other uses in the future.
 
Both crack sealing and chip sealing are forms of pavement maintenance, and are an integral part of the City’s pavement management program which is designed to maximize the life of the pavement.
