Fire danger raised, burn permits suspended 
Due to persistent seasonal drying and the lack of measurable precipitation in the Mat Su Valley, the Palmer Division of State of Alaska Division of Forestry will be implementing a suspension of both general and large scale burn permits effective Thursday August 8, 2019, at 0900 am. This suspension includes burn barrels; however, cooking and warming fires under 3ft in diameter are still allowed as long as the responsible party is following safe burning guidelines.
