The Township of Denville will be paving Franklin Avenue, Knoll Drive and Cooper Road on Monday, August 5th, and Tuesday, August 6th from 7 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m., although it may last later either day. Please expect delays if you need to travel in these areas on either Monday or Tuesday.

Paving will begin with Knoll Drive on Monday morning. Access to and from Knoll Drive will be limited at certain times, as the new pavement needs to cure before vehicles can drive on it.

The southbound lane of Franklin Avenue will then be paved. As a result, Franklin Avenue will be closed to all northbound traffic (traveling from Route 10 to Route 46) between Palmer Road and Knoll Drive. A detour will be in place, utilizing Palmer Road to Rockaway Avenue to Route 46. Any residents, visitors or employees needing to access any area between Palmer Road and Knoll Drive will have to access Franklin Avenue from Route 46. In addition, when exiting the area, all vehicles will have to travel south to Palmer Road.

On Tuesday morning, northbound Franklin Avenue will be paved. The aforementioned restrictions involving Franklin Avenue will once again be in effect.

Upon completion of Franklin Avenue, Cooper Road will be paved. As such, Cooper Road will be closed to all traffic between Franklin Road and Hill Road beginning at approximately 12 noon. All residents who live in this area should attempt to make arrangements to exit or return prior to the work beginning, as access will be very limited once it begins.

In addition, the paving of Cooper Road will include its intersection with Hill Road and a small portion of Hill Road itself. As a result, Cooper Road will be closed at Brentwood Drive and Hill Road at King Hill Court as the work enters the intersection. Anyone attempting to access Franklin Road from Cooper Road or Hill Road would need to access Franklin Road from Route 10 during this time.

Once again, anyone having to travel in these areas on either Monday or Tuesday should expect delays or plan an alternate route. Officers will be on scene both days to assist motorists. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
