 The Clayton County Police Department is investigating a sexual assault of a female victim in an apartment complex.

Assault Victims Fight off Attacker

7545 Tara Road, Jonesboro, GA 30236 (Park at Tara Lake)
The Clayton County Police Department responded to the Park at Tara Apartments (7545 Tara Road, Jonesboro) after receiving a 911 call of a home invasion robbery. As officers arrived on scene, they were advised that an unknown male entered the apartment and sexually assaulted a female victim.
At some point during this incident, the female victim was able to push away her attacker and scream, alerting her roommate. The roommate attempted to physically combat the suspect which subsequently led to him running out of the rear sliding door. Both the victim and roommate sustained non-life-threatening visible injuries.
Officers thoroughly canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. A follow-up investigation was ordered and executed the following morning at which time officers searched for additional witnesses and evidence.
At this time there is no direct evidence linking this suspect to the Serial Rapist, however we are aggressively analyzing all of the evidence in this case.
The physical description provided of the suspect involved this case is a dark complexioned African American male, with a low haircut and thin mustache, slim build with “defined abs”, approximately 5’10 – 6’0 tall and wearing jeans and green/white plaid boxers.
The safety of the public remains to be our #1 priority to which is never taken lightly. We will continuously provide safety tips to arm the citizens with methods on protecting themselves during possible times of vulnerability.
