July 22nd

Arson – 5300 block of Potrero Ave:
An officer reports an unknown suspect set fire to the wood exterior of an occupied home. The El Cerrito Fire Department also responded to assist with the investigation. No injuries were reported, and the house sustained only minor damage.

Residential Burglary – 6600 block of Hagen Ave:
An officer reports an unknown subject forced entry into the victim’s home and stole property.

Drug Possession – 5900 block of San Diego St:
At 7:02 pm, an officer responded to a call of a suspicious male loitering in front of an apartment complex. A transient man was contacted and found to be in possession of a small amount of a controlled substance. The male was issued a citation and released in the field.

Residential Burglary – 1100 block of James Pl:
An officer reports an unknown subject forced entry into the victim’s home and stole property.

July 23rd

Public Intoxication – 700 block of Pomona Ave:
At 8:43 pm, officers responded to reports of a male who wandered into the backyard of a residence. The male was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 24th

Drug Possession – 9800 San Pablo Ave:
At 8:47 pm, an officer responded to a call of a suspicious male seen walking through the courtyard of an apartment complex trying to open doors. The male was located and found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The male was booked at the El Cerrito PD and released with a citation.

Driving Under the Influence – 1100 block of Arlington Blvd:
At 2:51 am, an officer contacted a female who was involved in a vehicle collision. The female was found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The female was booked at the El Cerrito PD and released with a citation to a sober driver.

July 25th

Domestic Violence – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 10:37 pm, officers responded to a report of domestic violence and arrested the victim’s boyfriend. The male was booked at the ECPD and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 26th

Robbery (Strong-Arm) – 7525 Fairmount Ave (Fat Apples):
At 3:43 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect approached an elderly woman in the parking lot and grabbed her purse before turning to run. The elderly victim held on to her bag and was dragged to the ground.

Vehicle Theft – 5300 block of Potrero Ave:
At 4:48 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s red Honda CRV sometime between 6:40 am and 4:30 pm earlier that same day.

July 27th

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 6600 block of Willow St:
At 12:21 pm, an officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the carport of an apartment complex. Upon arrival, the officer located a silver Audi SUV which had been reported stolen to the Berkeley Police Department.

Tampering with Auto – 1100 block of Arlington Blvd:
At 1:44 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke the rear passenger side window to the victim’s vehicle but did not make entry into the car.

Shoplifting – 11060 San Pablo Ave (Big 5):
At 3:12 pm, an unknown suspect selected merchandise and exited the store without paying.

Residential Burglary – 900 block of Avis Drive:
An officer responded to a burglary where juveniles known to the homeowner broke into the house. When the homeowners arrived home, they found the teenagers inside, and they ran away. An officer called one of the suspects on the telephone and was able to get the stolen property back.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Avenue at Madison Avenue:
An officer pulled over a car for a vehicle code violation and determined the driver was intoxicated. The driver was booked at the ECPD and then released to a sober friend.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Avenue at Cutting Blvd:
An officer pulled over a car for a vehicle code violation and arrested the driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was booked at the ECPD and then released to their spouse.

July 28th

Residential Burglary – 1300 block of Brewster Dr:
At 10:12 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the home and removed several pieces of staged furniture.

Auto Burglary – 9901 San Pablo Ave (Chipotle):
At 10:51 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect arrived in the parking lot in a white vehicle and broke the rear window to the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then removed two backpacks containing laptop computers before fleeing.

Vehicle Theft – 2700 block of Arlington Blvd:
At 2:39 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s gray Toyota Prius from in front of their home between 8:00 pm the evening of the 27th and 2:30 pm today.

Warrant Arrest – BART path / Hill St:
At 2:46 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 27-year-old male who had an ECPD warrant from a previous criminal investigation. The man was issued a new court date and released at the scene.

Robbery & Warrant Arrest – 10650 San Pablo Ave (CVS):
At 3:21 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 32-year-old woman after she stole merchandise from the store and struck a staff member with an umbrella while trying to leave. The woman also had a warrant for her arrest and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

July 29th

Grand Theft – 100 block of Behrens St:
At 10:18 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took two pairs of prescription glasses valued at $1K.

Shoplifting – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 11:07 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the business and selected several items before leaving the store without providing payment.

Shoplifting – 11060 San Pablo Ave (Big 5):
At 1:20 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect selected several clothing items and left the store without paying.

Auto Burglary – 255 El Cerrito Plaza (Trader Joes):
At 2:20 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke the window to the victim’s vehicle and removed a bag containing paperwork.

Auto Burglary – Moeser Ln / San Pablo Ave:
At 3:15 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke the front driver side window to the victim’s vehicle and removed a backpack containing electronics. The crime occurred on Friday but was not reported until today.

Auto Burglary – 800 block of Everett St:
At 4:45 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole a pair of sunglasses and miscellaneous paperwork.

Stolen Vehicle – 10636 San Pablo Avenue (24 Hour Fitness):
An officer responded to a report that someone had stolen the victim’s Toyota Camry. The suspect took the car from the parking lot between 10:20 pm and 11:20 pm.
