A single-vehicle fatal traffic collision involving a motorcycle occurred on July 19th at Tippecanoe Ave. and 3rd St.

SUMMARY:
On Friday, July 19, 2019, at about 12:32 p.m., deputies from the Highland Police Station were dispatched to Tippecanoe Avenue and 3rd Street for a report of a traffic collision involving a single motorcycle. Upon arrival, deputies found the motorcycle driver unresponsive. Fire personnel arrived at the location and pronounced the unidentified male driver deceased.
According to witnesses and a preliminary investigation, the driver of the motorcycle traveled north on Tippecanoe Avenue through the intersection at 3rd Street at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle struck a curb on the east side of Tippecanoe Avenue, causing the driver to become airborne. The driver struck a security guard pillar on the bridge, he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation is ongoing, and it is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol was a factor in the collision. The investigation is being conducted by deputies at the Highland Station.
