The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Central Somerset County in northern New Jersey... Central Monmouth County in central New Jersey... Middlesex County in northern New Jersey...

* Until 815 PM EDT.

* At 722 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Bound Brook, or near Somerville, moving southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include... New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Somerville, Somerset, Edison, Middletown, Old Bridge, East Brunswick, Bridgewater, South Brunswick, Sayreville, North Brunswick, Marlboro, Manalapan, Carteret, Holmdel, Middlesex, Bound Brook, Manville and Matawan.

* AFFECTED AREAS: MIDDLESEX, NJ ... SOMERSET, NJ ... MONMOUTH, NJ

Instructions:

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Wind damage with this storm will occur before any rain or lightning. Do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover. SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
