Deputies and K9 Smokey recover drugs and a loaded firearm during a traffic

LOCATION:Helms Ave / Devon St, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT:Chester Gumber III, 40-year-old resident of Rancho Cucamonga
Pamela Martinez, 43-year-old resident of San Dimas
SUMMARY:
While on patrol, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department observed a suspect related to continued narcotics activity driving west on Devon St. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Chester Gumber III and the passenger as Pamela Martinez. Rancho Cucamonga Police Department’s narcotics detectionK9 Smokey was deployed and alerted to narcotics inside the vehicle. When deputies searched the vehicle, they found methamphetamine and a loaded firearm with additional ammunition inside a satchel. Deputies located additional methamphetamine inside Martinez’s purse. Upon further investigation, deputies learned the firearm had been reported stolen in 2017. Both Gumber III and Martinez were arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
