There is an excessive heat watch in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday evening, with Heat Index Values up to 109 due to temperatures near 100, and dewpoints in the lower 70s.
An Excessive Heat Watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
As an aside, the Hollis Social Library is an excellent place to escape the heat. Their hours of operation on Saturday are 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The library is closed on Sunday.
If you or any of your relatives or neighbors need assistance, please contact the Hollis Communications Center at 603-465-7637.
Instructions:
Drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned room...stay out of the sun...and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
