SUMMARY:
On Sunday, July 14, 2019, at approximately 6:42 a.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the Shell Gas Station in the 11000 block of Foothill Blvd. for an armed robbery call.
At approximately 6:40 a.m. the three suspects arrived at the Shell Gas Station. The suspects are identified as Luis Cotne, Kyle Ruano and Arielle Ramos. Ramos drove a gray Hyundai Santa Fe with the license plate 4YCA300 and remained inside the vehicle. Ruano was armed with a silver revolver and Cotne was armed with a machete. Ruano and Cotne entered the gas station retail area, approached the Shell employee by going behind the counter and demanded money from the register. The suspects took approximately $133.00 from the Shell employee and the register. All three suspects fled the scene in the gray Hyundai.
During an area check, Deputy Yesmin Garcia located the suspect vehicle at the Chevron station east of the 15 Freeway, backed in and appeared that they were going to commit another robbery. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. Deputies followed the suspect vehicle to Foothill Boulevard and Sierra Avenue in Fontana. The vehicle malfunctioned, and Ramos pulled over. Ramos was apprehended at the vehicle without incident. Ruano and Cotne exited the vehicle and fled on foot running south on Sierra Avenue. With the help of Fontana Police Department officers, Cotne was apprehended approximately 150 yards south of Foothill Blvd. on Sierra Ave. Ruano was apprehended in front of the Fontana Police Station.
The suspects were arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for armed robbery, evading a peace officer, and conspiracy. They are being held on $200,000 bail.
Through investigation, it was determined the suspects had robbed two separate 7-Eleven stores in Upland prior to committing the robbery in Rancho Cucamonga. Approximately $630.00 in U.S. currency and a Ruger 38 caliber revolver were located inside the suspect’s vehicle, and the machete was located outside of the vehicle. The vehicle driven by the suspects was later reported stolen to the Riverside Police Department.
