Lt. Chris Taylor of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 21-year-old Brian Austin Hollifield and 28-year-old Marion Gwen McCullers, both addresses listed as Arbutus Drive in Marion, with assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
                The victim, 23-year-old Kyle Rhodes, of Marion, reported that McCullers, who is his ex-girlfriend, picked him up and took him to the suspects’ house on Arbutus Drive at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 14.
                He recalled that, when he stepped inside the residence, multiple people jumped and assaulted him, leaving him with head trauma. He was taken to Mission Hospital in Asheville with non-life threatening injuries.
                Additional charges and arrests are pending.
