The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a

* Tornado Warning for... Northwestern St. Bernard Parish in southeastern Louisiana... Orleans Parish in southeastern Louisiana... North central Jefferson Parish in southeastern Louisiana... Northwestern Plaquemines Parish in southeastern Louisiana...

* Until 800 PM CDT.

* At 735 PM CDT, a rain squall capable of producing a tornado was located near Belle Chasse, moving north at 35 mph. HAZARD...Tornado. SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near... Timberlane around 745 PM CDT. Belle Chasse, Gretna, Poydras and Terrytown around 750 PM CDT. Chalmette, Meraux, Violet and Arabi around 755 PM CDT. East New Orleans around 800 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Lakefront Airport.

* AFFECTED AREAS: PLAQUEMINES, LA ... ORLEANS, LA ... ST. BERNARD, LA ... JEFFERSON, LA

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Heavy rainfall may hide this tornado.
