Sex offender moves into 2800 block of Perry Court

The Fairfield Police Department is issuing information regarding a sex offender who has been released from custody and is residing in the 2800 block of Perry Court, Fairfield.

James Shephard is currently on parole through the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.  He was convicted in 2006 of violating 288(a) PC- Lewd or Lascivious Acts with a child under 14-years old.  Prior to this, in 1982, Shephard was convicted in the State of Washington of Indecent Liberties with a child (comparable with 288(a) PC).  The victim in the 1982 case was a 9-year old female.  The victims in the 2006 case were a 13-year old male and a 10-year old female.  All of the victims were known to Shephard.

Due to his multiple convictions, the Fairfield Police Department is alerting residents to Mr. Shephard’s presence within the City of Fairfield.  The purpose of this is to allow members of the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders.  Additional information regarding James Shephard or other registered sex offenders can be obtained at www.meganslaw.ca.gov.

This information is being released pursuant to section 290 of the California Penal Code, commonly known as Megan’s Law.  It should be stressed that it is illegal to use this information to engage in discrimination or harassment against any sex registrant.
