With last week's quakes still fresh on our minds, Lancaster Sheriff's Station would love to re-introduce you to the CERT team.
 
The Antelope Valley Community Emergency Response Team (AVCERT) is a group of volunteer citizens who understand their responsibility in preparing for disasters and have safety training in order to help themselves, their family and neighbors.
 
CERT training consists of basic life safety and emergency preparedness skills based on the FEMA curriculum to provide basic care, stabilization and information in the event of a major incident or large scale disaster until emergency responders can arrive on scene. They are also prepared to support first
responders.
 
The CERT training is a 21 hour course and is held at different times throughout the year. The first 7 hour class will be held THIS SATURDAY, July 13th starting at 8am.
