...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING... .Tropical moisture moving into the area in association with a developing tropical cyclone over the northern Gulf of Mexico will continue to bring rounds of showers and thunderstorms into the area through the weekend. The watch will likely need to be expanded in area and time as the tropical cyclone moves towards the southeast and south central Louisiana coast. The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for
* portions of southeast Louisiana and Mississippi, including the following areas, in southeast Louisiana, Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Livingston, Lower Jefferson, Lower Lafourche, Lower Plaquemines, Lower St. Bernard, Lower Terrebonne, Orleans, Southern Tangipahoa, St. Charles, St. James, St. John The Baptist, St. Tammany, Upper Jefferson, Upper Lafourche, Upper Plaquemines, Upper St. Bernard, Upper Terrebonne, and West Baton Rouge. In Mississippi, Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson.

* Total rainfall accumulations of 6 to 12 inches with locally higher amounts are expected through the weekend with isolated higher amounts.
* Impacts include rapid rises on area small streams and creeks resulting in flooding on some rivers. Rapid ponding of water that may overwhelm local drainage capacities due to excessive rain rates.
