DO THE RIGHT THING AND CALL US WITH YOUR TIPS!

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Norwalk Station Captain James Tatreau and the family of victim Maria “Carmen” Chavarria plead for the public’s help in finding the hit and run driver that left the scene with no regard for the life he took.

Norwalk Station deputies responded to the 14800 block of Escalona Road, La Mirada, regarding a hit and run, on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at 1:15 p.m.

Victim Maria “Carmen” Chavarria was walking her two young grandchildren home from school when they were hit from behind by the suspect vehicle. The male suspect then fled the scene without stopping to help them. The two young grandchildren sustained non-life threatening injuries, however, Carmen was not so lucky. She was transported to a local hospital where she passed away from her injuries.

The City of La Mirada is offering a $5000 REWARD for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the hit and run. The suspect vehicle is described as a 2015-2017 dark gray Toyota Camry.

Please call detectives at Norwalk Station with your tips at 562-863-8711 and you could be eligible for the $5000 REWARD.
