Deputies responded to Arrowhead Lake Road and Calpella Avenue following the report of a shooting

SUSPECT: Carlos Balderrama, age 55 a resident of Apple Valley
VICTIM: Sharla Balderrama, age 54 a resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On Monday, July 8, 2019, at approximately 5:14 pm, deputies from the Hesperia Police Department responded to the report of a shooting inside a vehicle in the 7500 block of Arrowhead Lake Road. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle near Arrowhead Lake Road and Calpella Avenue, occupied by two persons with injuries believed to be gunshot wounds. The occupants in the vehicle were identified as Carlos and Sharla Balderrama, husband and wife.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Through investigation, detectives learned that the suspect and the victim had recently separated. Detectives determined that Carlos Balderrama shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself. A handgun was located inside the vehicle.
