Henry County Murder Suspect Captured By SHERIFF VICTOR HILL’S Elite Fugitive Squad & SWAT Team

Last night, James McAllister murdered a man by shooting him with a shotgun in Henry County.   After Henry County Police Homicide Detectives obtained a warrant for murder for McAllister, Detectives got a tip that McAllister could possibly be hiding out at an address on Silver Maple Dr in Rex and notified Clayton law-enforcement to see if the vehicle he was driving (a silver convertible mustang) was in the yard at that location.

County Police Officers spotted and positively identified the vehicle at the Silver Maple Drive location and notice that the drivers door was slightly open.  Clayton County Police then set up surveillance to make sure McAllister’s vehicle did not leave the scene while making notifications.

After receiving notification of the situation, Sheriff Victor Hill called out his elite Fugitive Squad to respond to the scene.  Fugitive Squad members surrounded the location and called for McAllister to come out and surrender.   An elderly couple exited the house and confirmed that McAllister was inside and that he had Heather Elgle with him who was a person of interest to Henry County Homicide Detectives.  After numerous attempts to ask McAllister to come out yielded no results, the Sheriff authorized a SWAT call out to deal with what had now escalated to a barricaded suspect and possible hostage situation.

SWAT team members arrived and assumed control of the scene by sending in a robot into the house to confirm the location of McAllister.   McAllister had locked himself in the basement area of the house.  At 6am this morning, SWAT team members fired chemical agents into the basement area and both McAllister and Heather Elgle quickly exited the house without further incident and were both taken into custody.

McAllister was turned over to Henry County Police therefore he escaped facing the wall at “The Hill-ton”.  However McAllister will serve as the new poster child to warn those fleeing from other jurisdictions that it would be wise to stay clear of Clayton County.
