Deputies arrest felon on probation for brandishing a weapon at them and possessing a loaded firearm.

LOCATION: Howard Street and Pipeline Avenue, Montclair
SUSPECT(S): Kevin Galaviz, age 22, resident of Pomona
VICTIM(S): Two San Bernardino County deputies
SUMMARY: On July 4, 2019, at 9:29 P.M., two San Bernardino County deputies were driving in the area of Howard Street and Pipeline Avenue, within the city of Montclair, responding to an unrelated call for service. A car approached their patrol car from the opposite direction, pulled alongside and slowed in the roadway. A bright flash and a loud noise, consistent with a gunshot came from suspect car.
The deputies stopped the suspect car, inside they located a firearm and other evidence consistent with a shot being fired from within the car. There were no injuries to the deputies or community members and there was no property damage. The driver of the suspect car, Kevin Galaviz, is a convicted felon who is on probation. Galaviz was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for multiple offenses including the brandishing a weapon to law enforcement officers, being a felon in possession of ammunition and a loaded firearm. His bail is set at $50,000 and his next court date is scheduled for July 9th, at the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court.
