Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 09:15PM

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... South central Rutherford County in western North Carolina... Southeastern Henderson County in western North Carolina... Polk County in western North Carolina... Northeastern Greenville County in Upstate South Carolina... Northwestern Spartanburg County in Upstate South Carolina...

* Until 915 PM EDT.

* At 833 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 6 miles east of Columbus, moving southeast at 10 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include... Columbus, Flat Rock, Landrum, Tryon, Campobello, Saluda, Lake Bowen, Tigerville, Mill Spring and Tuxedo.

* AFFECTED AREAS: GREENVILLE, SC ... HENDERSON, NC ... SPARTANBURG, SC ... POLK, NC ... RUTHERFORD, NC

Instructions:

A few trees and power lines will be blown down in the warned area. Hail can cause major property damage, especially to vehicles. Seek shelter inside an interior room. This storm is also producing extremely heavy rainfall. Flooding of drainage ditches and low lying areas may occur. Small streams will rise rapidly. Do not drive through areas where water is flowing over the road.
