The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a
* Flood Advisory for... Northeastern Clinton County in south central Illinois... Marion County in south central Illinois...
* Until 1115 PM CDT.
* At 610 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Centralia, Salem, Sandoval, Wamac, Central City, Odin, Omega, Fairman, Boulder, Shattuc, Helm, Tonti, Hoffman, Iuka, Junction City, Keyesport, Alma, Kell, Walnut Hill and Cartter. This includes Interstate 57 in Illinois between exits 109 and 116. This also includes Carlyle Lake Recreational Area.
* AFFECTED AREAS: CLINTON, IL ... MARION, IL
Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.
