This is just an advisory:  Between 10:00 am and 11:00 am today a black bear was sighted in the Long Pond area of town and reported to the North Castle Police Department.
There have been no other reported sightings since 11:00 am today.
Some general safety tip reminders for bear encounters:
Do not approach or feed bears.  If you’re aware of a bear in your area, try to remove things they may hone in on such as bird feeders and garbage pails.  Keep pets inside while bear is in sight.
