News Story - Threats Investigation

Nature of Incident: Recent Disturbing Borderline Threats Investigation

Report Number: 19-99676

Location: City of Thousand Oaks

Date & Time: 6/27/19 @ 10:30 a.m.

Unit(s) Responsible: Thousand Oaks Patrol; East County Investigations

(S)uspects, (V)ictims, (P)arty, (D)ecedent City of Residence Age

(S) Eric Plambeck Thousand Oaks 27

Narrative:

The subject of recent Borderline social media posts has been located and arrested.

Earlier this past week, the Thousand Oaks Police Department became aware of rambling and

disturbing social media posts by a local individual that seemed intent on fabricating a link

between the Borderline tragedy and a foreign militant group. The social media posts were linked

to Eric Plambeck and although no direct threat was communicated, Plambeck’s posts were

disturbing, insensitive and concerning to the Thousand Oaks Police Department and a

community still trying to heal from a historically tragic event.

Thousand Oaks Detectives and Thousand Oaks Patrol deputies immediately worked to locate

and ascertain Plambeck’s motive and intent with his posts. On the evening of Saturday, June 29,

2019, patrol deputies located Plambeck in the 2800 block of Camino Dos Rios, Newbury Park.

Plambeck was evaluated and determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance.

Plambeck was arrested for 11550(a) H&S and is being held on $15,000 bail. Plambeck is due in

court Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Thousand Oaks Detectives interviewed Plambeck

about the intent of his disturbing social media posts. Plambeck stated that he did not intend to

threaten anyone. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office/Thousand Oaks Police Department

determined that Plambeck did not violate any statutes with his social media posts about the

Borderline mass shooting.
