News Release: Police Arrest Suspect in Homicide at Mobile Home Park

This morning, detectives arrested a suspect in a homicide that occurred on Monday night inside a residence at the Buena Vista Mobile Home Park, after determining that the suspect responsible had already been arrested later that same night in a separate battery case. On Monday, June 24, 2019 at 6:53 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a suspicious circumstance that had just occurred at the Buena Vista Mobile Home park at 3980 El Camino Real. The reporting party found his roommate, an adult male in his sixties, injured with stab wounds to his chest in their home. The victim ultimately died at the hospital from those injuries. Later that evening at 8:53 p.m., a man approached an officer at the scene at the death investigation and reported that he was the victim of a battery that had just occurred nearby, as he walked through the mobile home park. The victim, a man in his sixties, said that he had been punched and knocked down by a man. The victim sustained moderate injuries to his mouth and received treatment at a local hospital. Police located the suspect, who is also a resident of Buena Vista Mobile Home Park, at his home that evening and arrested him without incident. Officers booked 31-year-old Isadore Christopher Diaz of Palo Alto at the Santa Clara County Main Jail for battery causing serious injury (a felony) and for being under the influence of a controlled substance (a misdemeanor). At the time of his arrest, police had no evidence connecting Diaz to the death. Detectives and crime scene investigators continued to process the complex death investigation crime scene over the course of the week. Late on Wednesday afternoon, investigators were able to piece together evidence that led to the identification of Diaz as the suspect in this case. Detectives obtained a search warrant on Wednesday night for Diaz’s home, and subsequently located additional evidence linking him to the crime. Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Diaz for murder and served that warrant on him at about 4:30 a.m. on today’s date while he was still in custody at the Santa Clara County Main Jail. His booking photo (from the original arrest on June 24) is attached to this release (note: the booking photo has been removed pursuant to AB994 as of December 2023). The identity of the homicide victim can be obtained from the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner-Coroner.
