The South River Police Department is seeking alternate route candidates for the position of full time Police Officer. Applications & personal history questionnaires will be available beginning Friday, June 28, 2019 and can be picked up at the South River Police Department Records Bureau located at 61 Main Street, South River, NJ on weekdays between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Alternate route applicants must have completed, prior to appointment, a police training course certified by the New Jersey Police Training Commission and must have passed and received PT certification from the respective Police Academy. In addition, applicants must be able to successfully pass an oral examination, medical and psychological examinations and an extensive background investigation.

ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• United States Citizen
• Resident of the State of New Jersey
• Minimum 21 years of age and not over 35 years of age (NJSA 40A:14-127)
• Possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent

Applicants will also be required to provide a photocopy of their valid New Jersey Driver’s License and a recent passport sized photo (2 x 2 3/4 inches).
