Flash Flood Warning until 08:30AM

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... East central Will County in northeastern Illinois... Southeastern Cook County in northeastern Illinois...

* Until 830 AM CDT Thursday.

* At 228 AM CDT, Doppler radar and rain gauges indicated very heavy rain had occurred across the warned area with heavy thunderstorms continuing.

* This is a particularly dangerous situation! Up to 4 inches of rainfall has already occurred near Richton which has caused flooding of numerous roadways throughout the warned area. Any additional rainfall will worsen flash flood impacts.

* Waterways most likely to experience flash flooding include.... Butterfield Creek.... Thorn Creek... and Deer Creek.

* AFFECTED AREAS: COOK, IL ... WILL, IL

Instructions:

Take action now for dangerous flash flooding! Persons near streams and creeks should move immediately to higher ground to protect life and property. Night time flooding is particularly dangerous, and most flood deaths occur in vehicles... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
