SMPD investigating suspected murder-suicide at San Mateo residence
San Mateo Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide involving two elderly citizens. The incident was isolated to one home and it doesn’t appear any suspects are outstanding.
On Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 9:39 A.M. San Mateo Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Young Street regarding a welfare check of an elderly couple. Upon entering the home, officers found the couple to be deceased and enacted the San Mateo County homicide protocol. At this time, the deaths appear to be an isolated incident contained to the home and detectives preliminarily believe it to be a murder-suicide. SMPD’s Investigations Bureau are collaborating with our law enforcement partners to determine exactly what occurred.
We mourn the loss of our community members. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family in the death of their loved ones. We will be releasing information to the public as it becomes available.
