In preparation for the Independence Day celebration in the City of Sheboygan, the Sheboygan Police Department would like to advise the public of  the following 4th of July traffic restrictions, to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable holiday:
 

• Parade Route:
  All side streets connecting to the parade route will be barricaded off the morning of July 4.  For safety reasons, vehicles parked on the parade route after 7:30 AM on July 4 will be towed.
   
• Following the Independence Day Parade, Broughton Drive will remain closed to vehicle traffic and parking will be prohibited from Michigan Avenue south to Wisconsin Avenue for the safety of pedestrians and the lakefront activities.
   
•  Parking will be prohibited along the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue from N. 7^th  Street west to Water Street all day to provide two lanes of westbound traffic leaving from the lakefront.
   
•  NOTE: the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge is closed for construction. 
   
• After the fireworks, traffic using Pennsylvania Avenue to leave the lakefront will be directed west to 9^th Street, where vehicles may turn north or south.
  - Vehicles wishing to travel south from Pennsylvania Avenue will use the 9^th Street swing street to S 8^th Street, continuing to the roundabout intersection at S 8^th and Indiana Avenue and be directed westbound on Indiana Avenue.
  - Vehicles wishing to travel north from Pennsylvania Avenue will be directed to turn west on Erie Avenue.  No northbound traffic will be allowed through the intersection of N 9^th Street and Erie Avenue.
   
•  After the fireworks, traffic flow will be restricted at the Rotary Intersection at S 8th Street and Indiana Avenue.
  There will be no northbound traffic allowed on S 8th Street from the round-about intersection and no northbound traffic allowed into the roundabout from S. 7^th Street and Indiana Avenue.
   
•  All traffic coming south across the 8th Street Bridge will ONLY be allowed to proceed WEST on Indiana Avenue from the round-about intersection.
   
•  All traffic coming out of South Pier Drive will ONLY be allowed to proceed SOUTH on S 8th Street from the round-about intersection.
   
•  If you view the fireworks from north of the Sheboygan River and have to get back to the south side, we suggest leaving west on Erie or Superior Avenues, and using 14^th Street or Taylor Drive to go south.
   
•  If you view the fireworks from south of the Sheboygan River and have to get back to the north side, we suggest turning west on Georgia Avenue or Broadway Avenue to reach South Business Drive and turn north. 

 Officers will be manning the traffic lights on 14^th Street and numerous other intersections to facilitate the movement of traffic away from the lakefront. Please remember that thousands of vehicles will be attempting to leave the lakefront area at the same time, and there is only so much space on the streets to accommodate the increase in volume. Please be patient, and watch for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Everyone is encouraged to walk or use a bicycle if practical.
