Man dies in Russian River (Geyserville)

Yesterday evening a man died in the Russian River in Geyserville.  On Sunday, June 23 at approximately 7:10 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 21000 block of River Road, Geyserville, for a drowning victim.  While deputies were driving to the scene, Geyserville Fire Department and Bell’s Ambulance arrived and began life-saving efforts.  They were unable to revive the man and a paramedic pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Deputies arranged chaplain services for the family and began their investigation.  The man was swimming in the river with his family when they became separated.  His family found him a short time later.  He was not breathing, so they attempted CPR, called 911, and drove to find help.

The man was identified as Angel Cendon-Hernandez, 24, of Petaluma.  The Coroner’s Office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.  However, it appears that Mr. Cendon-Hernandez accidentally drowned.

We send our condolences to Mr. Cendon-Hernandez‘s family and friends.
