Police seek the public's help in locating Newark man and woman

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that warrants have been issued for the arrest of Joshua Norwood, 29, and Edna Fitch, 39, both of Newark, for separate incidents of aggravated assault.

Yesterday, police responded to South Ward residence on a call of an aggravated assault. Norwood assaulted a woman he knows following a quarrel. He also pointed a firearm at the victim and threatened her life.

Detectives investigating this incident secured a warrant for Norwood’s arrest on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose and simple assault.

In a separate incident, on June 6, 2019, a workman in a building in the 100-block of 1st Street was approached by a woman he does not know with a knife. The woman raised the knife toward the worker, who fled and was not injured.

Detectives identified Edna Fitch as a suspect and obtained a warrant for her arrest on charges of aggravated assault.

While police are actively searching for Norwood and Fitch, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating these individuals so they can be removed from our streets.

Director Ambrose is urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of these suspects to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or 1-877-NWK-GUNS (1-877-695-4867).
