Flash Flood Watch until 01:00AM Friday

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of northern Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, including the following areas, in northern Delaware, New Castle. In New Jersey, Camden, Eastern Monmouth, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Northwestern Burlington, Salem, Somerset, Sussex, Warren, and Western Monmouth. In Pennsylvania, Berks, Carbon, Delaware, Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Lehigh, Lower Bucks, Monroe, Northampton, Philadelphia, Upper Bucks, Western Chester, and Western Montgomery.

* Through 1 am Friday

* Showers and some thunderstorms through daybreak this morning will produce torrential rainfall, with local amounts of 1 to 3 inches potentially occurring in a short period of time. Another round of showers and thunderstorms will develop later today and continue through early Friday morning. This will produce locally heavy rainfall with as much as an additional 1 to 3 inches of rain in a short time. Areas of flash flooding are likely once again, especially if heavy rain develops over already flooded areas.

* The risk of flash flooding is highest in urbanized and low- lying areas. Rapid rises on small creeks and streams are possible.

* AFFECTED AREAS: UPPER BUCKS ... SOMERSET ... EASTERN MONMOUTH ... WESTERN CHESTER ... NORTHWESTERN BURLINGTON ... MERCER ... CAMDEN ... WESTERN MONTGOMERY ... EASTERN MONTGOMERY ... GLOUCESTER ... LEHIGH ... EASTERN CHESTER ... DELAWARE ... BERKS ... MIDDLESEX ... PHILADELPHIA ... SALEM ... MORRIS ... LOWER BUCKS ... HUNTERDON ... CARBON ... WARREN ... WESTERN MONMOUTH ... NORTHAMPTON ... Instructions:

A Flash Flood Watch means that there is the potential for flash flooding which can be life-threatening. Heavy rain is expected to occur over a short period of time. Rapidly rising flood waters may quickly inundate roadways. Streams and creeks could leave their banks, flooding nearby properties. Please monitor the forecast, especially if you live in a location that is prone to flooding. Be prepared to take action if a flash flood warning is issued for your area.
