Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision

Incident:   Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision
Location:    Mission Blvd. at Brown Rd.
Date/Time of Incident:   June 19, 2019 at 5:25 a.m.
The Fremont Police Department is investigating a fatal hit and run traffic collision that occurred in the Warm Springs District early this morning.
Today at approximately 5:25 a.m., the Fremont Police Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a collision involving a motorcyclist and a vehicle. The caller told dispatchers the motorcyclist was on the ground and the driver of the vehicle had fled the scene.
Fremont Police and Fire personnel responded to the scene and rendered medical aid to the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was transported to a trauma center.  Medical staff notified our Department that the man had succumbed to his injuries at approximately 8:30 a.m.
At this point in the investigation, we believe the motorcyclist was traveling west on Mission Boulevard at the time of the collision.  As the motorcyclist approached the intersection of Mission Boulevard and Brown Road a vehicle traveling in the eastbound lanes made a left turn in front of the motorcyclist. They collided in the westbound lanes.
Patrol officers developed information regarding the registered owner of the vehicle. The registered owner and a second person were contacted at a local motel room near the scene of the collision.
The motorcyclist is believed to be a San Jose resident in his 20’s.  The Santa Clara County Coroner has been notified due to the victim being transported to a hospital in their County.
Drugs and alcohol are being investigated as a factor.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time and we will provide further updates as new information is confirmed.
