Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Sharod Fields, 52, of Newark, in connection with the May 8th, 2019 robbery of a woman 7-months pregnant at the time of the incident.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the woman was walking with another woman and a child in the 400 block of Market Street when she was approached by a male who grabbed her neck in an attempt to steal her gold chain. The women struggled with the suspect, who punched the second victim in the face, before he fled on foot.

Robbery detectives investigating this incident identified Fields as a suspect and secured a warrant for his arrest on charges of robbery and aggravated assault. While police are actively searching for Fields, we request the public’s help in quickly locating him so he can be removed from our streets.
