If you live or work north of Bakersfield, near the area of Highway 65 and Merced Avenue, please pay close attention to this message. The Kern County Fire Department will be conducting a controlled burn on Saturday, June 8, 2019, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. north of Bakersfield on Merced Avenue, one mile west of Highway 65. The purpose of the controlled burn is to give your local firefighters actual firefighting experience as they prepare for wildfire season.
