RESIDENTS ASKED TO WEIGH-IN ON NEW LOMA VERDE RECREATION AND AQUATIC CENTER

Chula Vista residents are asked to participate in a survey to help shape the future of a new recreation and aquatic center at Loma Verde. The current center, located at 1420 Loma Lane in the southwestern portion of the City, was built in the 1970s. Over the years, remodeling has occurred as needed but a comprehensive vision of the center is now being planned.

Goals of the project are to create a hub for the community to include recreational, social and cultural programs. The new center will be a modern one that meets health and safety codes, is operationally and environmentally sustainable, universally accessible and is integrated into the neighborhood.

Community input is needed to help shape the future of Loma Verde and to determine what residents would desire in a new center. The survey can be found at https://www.chulavistaca.gov/lomaverde and is available in English and Spanish. The deadline to participate is July 5, 2019. In addition, a community forum is scheduled for Monday, June 17, for residents to share their thoughts on the needs of the center. The forum will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Loma Verde Recreation Center.
