Flash Flood Watch until 07:00PM Saturday
A slow moving closed upper level low coupled with tropical moisture will bring the threat for additional heavy rainfall that could lead to both flash flooding and river flooding for a large portion of the Midsouth through Saturday afternoon. The nature of the low will allow for light steering winds that may cause storms to not only slowly move but to train over the same areas as well. The National Weather Service in Memphis has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of North Mississippi and West Tennessee, including the following areas, in North Mississippi, Alcorn, Benton, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Marshall, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, and Union. In West Tennessee, Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Henry, Madison, McNairy, and Weakley.
* Through Saturday evening.
* Heavy Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches.
* Flash flooding could lead to live threatening situations for motorists and individuals exposed to low lying areas or rapidly rising creeks and rivers.
