SUSPECT #1: Jerrad Downey, 42-year-old male, Berkeley resident
SUSPECT VEHICLE: 2000 White Mercedes-Benz S-430
On May 30, 2019, at approximately 1:00 P.M., Milpitas Police officers responded to the 500-block of East Calaveras Boulevard for the report of a white Mercedes-Benz driving recklessly in the area. A second caller reported seeing a male “rack” the slide of a handgun and place the handgun inside a white Mercedes-Benz. Officers saw a white Mercedes-Benz leave the Town Center Shopping Center and conducted a high-risk vehicle stop. Officers took Downey into custody and located an unregistered and unloaded Beretta handgun on the front passenger seat. Downey was on probation in Alameda County for reckless driving. He was also determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
Downey was booked into the Santa Clara County main jail for drunk driving, felon in possession of a firearm, and a probation violation.
