The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a
* Small Stream Flood Advisory for... Southeastern Livingston County in central Illinois... Ford County in east central Illinois... Southwestern Iroquois County in east central Illinois...
* Until 430 AM CDT.
* At 132 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen in portions of southwestern Iroquois County and the Ford County panhandle.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Paxton, Fairbury, Gibson City, Piper City, Claytonville, Gilman, Onarga, Forrest, Chatsworth, Cissna Park, Buckley, Gibson, Melvin, Loda, Roberts, Elliott, Sibley, Wellington, Thawville and Strawn.
* AFFECTED AREAS: FORD, IL ... IROQUOIS, IL ... LIVINGSTON, IL
Instructions:
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
