UPDATE 2: South River Public Schools are proceeding with a controlled dismissal with an added police presence at the schools and in surrounding areas. Any parents picking up children are asked to respond to their children's respective schools at the normal dismissal time or now if normal dismissal time has already passed. We ask for your patience as our department works with school staff to dismiss all students as safely and as efficiently as possible.

UPDATE 1: The shelter in place is still in effect at all South River Public Schools. At this time, parents are asked to avoid the area until further advised. Please monitor our department's social media accounts and NIXLE alerts for updates regarding school dismissal.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE: Due to an ongoing suspect search in East Brunswick near the border of South River, all South River Public Schools are currently under a shelter in place. This is a precaution only. There is no immediate threat to students or staff. Parents are asked to avoid the area and not respond to the schools.
