Charles Ramos and a 17-year-old male are arrested for possession of a handgun with obliterated serial numbers

SUSPECTS: Charles Ramos, age 25 a resident of San Bernardino

SUMMARY: On May 25, 2019, a deputy from the Highland Police Department's Multiple Enforcement Team observed the driver of a black SUV commit several vehicle code violations. The deputy conducted a traffic stop to contact the driver and occupants. As the deputy approached the vehicle, he observed a rear passenger hand an item to another rear passenger in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was done after detaining and removing the occupants from the vehicle. A loaded semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine was found. Additionally, the serial number on the handgun was removed.
Through investigation, the suspects identified themselves as active street gang members from a local criminal street gang. One of the suspects told the deputy he would have shot a rival gang member if he were to come across one.
Both suspects were arrested for PC 29800(a)(1) – Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PC 23900 – Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number, and for PC 186.22 – Participate in a Criminal Street Gang Activity.
