Alert

FLOOD WARNING - areas east of 79 from Foley south to the southern section of the Winfield Main Levee (NOT including the City of Winfield).

FLOOD WARNING: We have asked the National Weather Service to issue a new Aerial Flood Warning to account for the updated river forecast. The Mississippi River at Winfield is forecasted to crest early Saturday afternoon at 34.90 feet, and maintain that level for approximately 24 hours before beginning to recede. Earlier this month, the crest of 34.92 feet overtopped the Winfield Main Levee, and that levee now has a breach that is about 300 feet wide and at least 8 feet deep. Areas affected by this warning include pretty much everything east of Highway 79 from the City of Foley south to the southernmost portion of the Winfield Main Levee (not including the City of Winfield):

- Residences along Highway N from Highway 79 east to the river
- Residences along Big Box Road
- Residences in the Winfield Acres neighborhood
- Properties east of Highway 79 between Foley and Winfield
- Residences in the City of Foley east of Highway 79

If you live or work in these areas, you are urged in the strongest possible terms to evacuate. The breach in the levee means you will experience the rise of the Mississippi River as it happens, with little or no lag time.

Instructions:

Evacuation STRONGLY urged.
