Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of May 12-18, 2019

Dear Duarte Community,

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of May 12 through May 18, 2019.        
 
May 12, 2019

  • No significant activity.   
 
May 13, 2019
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target). Store security observed an adult female placing numerous clothing items and other store merchandise in a shopping cart. She then proceeded to the self-check-out aisle and paid for some items, but not the clothing items.  Once outside the store, she was detained by store security.  After further investigation by responding deputies, the female was arrested for petty theft and the $378 in clothing was returned to the store.  The suspect was a resident of Sylmar.  
 
May 14, 2019
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the 1000 block of Las Lomas Road. Between 9 p.m. on May 13 and 3 p.m. May 14, persons unknown shattered the rear passenger window to the victim’s vehicle and stole a pillow, laundry detergent and a set of headphones. 
 
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the 2000 block of Huntington Drive. Between 8 a.m. and 12:40 p.m., persons unknown shattered the rear passenger window to the victim’s vehicle and stole two pairs of sunglasses.
       
May 15, 2019
  • No significant activity. 
 
May 16, 2019
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1600 Mountain Avenue (Walmart). An adult male was observed placing clothing items and a vacuum in a shopping cart. The suspect then fled out the rear emergency exit without paying for the items. The suspect entered the passenger side of a grey Infiniti, which was being driven by an unidentified suspect, and fled out of view. The investigation is on-going.    
 
May 17, 2019
  • A Vehicle Burglary was reported in the 200 block of Opel Canyon Road. Between 11 p.m. on May 16 and 5:50 am on May 17, persons unknown shattered the rear passenger window to the victim’s vehicle and stole a backpack. 
 
May 18 2019
  • A vehicle was reported stolen in the 3200 block of Tannencrest Drive. Between 7 p.m. on May 17 and 7 a.m. on May 18, persons unknown stole the victim’s 1999 Honda Civic. The vehicle is still outstanding.
